Malaysian Police Open Disciplinary Probe Into Officer Over Viral Allegations of Insulting Residents in China
The Royal Malaysia Police has launched a disciplinary investigation into an officer who allegedly went viral for insulting local residents in China. The personnel remains on active duty as authorities review the incident. The Inspector-General stressed accountability, conduct standards, and possible legal action pending inquiry outcomes.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail confirmed that the officer concerned remains on active duty while the investigation is underway. He stated that the force will conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the matter and emphasized that any disciplinary breaches, as well as potential violations of the law, will be addressed accordingly once established.
He urged all parties to remain calm, underscoring that the Royal Malaysia Police will carry out a thorough and impartial investigation. He further stressed that police officers and personnel are required to maintain proper conduct at all times, whether within Malaysia or abroad, as they continue to be bound by the force’s regulations and standard operating procedures even when off duty and out of uniform.
The controversy involves a social media influencer who is also serving as a member of the police force. The individual reportedly attracted significant attention online, including from foreign media outlets, after allegedly shouting inappropriate remarks while covering her nose in a public area in China.
Earlier, Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail officiated the 42nd Annual General Meeting of the Retired Senior Police Officers Association of Malaysia, known as RESPA, held at the Kuala Lumpur Police Training College.
During the event, he also addressed matters related to the welfare of retired personnel, expressing hope that the government would reconsider reviewing the warrior’s allowance to help former security personnel manage rising living costs.
He further noted that issues concerning allowances for recipients of the Seri Pahlawan Gagah Perkasa and Pingat Gagah Berani decorations were raised by RESPA President Datuk Meor Chek Hussein Mahayuddin. He highlighted that these allowance rates have remained unchanged since 2009, marking 17 years without revision.
The case has intensified scrutiny over the conduct of serving officers in public and international spaces, reinforcing institutional expectations of discipline, accountability, and adherence to professional standards within the Royal Malaysia Police.
